Accreditation

New Teachers who complete the course will  have their achievement certificated by the Ringing Foundation, becoming accredited teachers and members of the Association of Ringing Teachers

Mentors will become accredited alongside the New Teacher they are mentoring if not previously accredited.

The criteria for admission as an accredited teacher are as follows:

  • Being 18 years of age or over
  • Personal ringing at Bob Minor level or above

Module 1

After attending the Teaching bell handling day, a maximum of two years are allowed for the completion of Module 1. It is expected that Module 1 will be completed in significantly less than two years. If it is not completed, access to Moodle will be revoked.

  • Completion of Module 1 –Teaching bell handling
  • Being assessed on teaching one bell handling lesson (Module 1)
  • Completion of New Teacher Training Logbook, reviewed and signed by Mentor
  • Completion of multiple choice on line theory test, on Moodle site (Module 1)

Module 2

Module 2 then follows on subsequently from the completion of Module 1. A maximum time of one year is allowed to complete Module 2 although, again, it is hoped it will be completed significantly quicker.

  • Completion of Module 2 – Teaching elementary change ringing
  • Log book of teaching experience of teaching elementary change ringing
  • Assessment of two lessons on teaching elementary bell handling (Module 2)
  • Completion of multiple choice on line theory test, on Moodle site (Module 2)

Association of Ringing Teachers

Once accredited, teachers join the Association of Ringing Teachers – the body managing teaching through the ITTS. Members gain various benefits, including support and communication with other ringing teachers nationwide.
